I wouldn't worry about picking a "raid-friendly" class: just pick the class you like. Lots of guilds (though I can't speak for all) want every class, and even if you make a Ranger you'll still have a raid role (deathtouch eater [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]), so just make what you want.

This amuses me... Ranger Role. I've been holding back a toon to join in on Vox/Naggy as yes I would like to try for certain loot in a more classic mode. I was really hoping the Open Raiding would take off because of two things. First, Open raid are classic to me and a bit more fun. Second, I would rather try mobs without the super twink action or waves of outside help, although the toon I would like to run at them does have some gears from Velious already just one of those factors of not getting here when server started.

I suppose I could make a new toon and just stick to my own imposed ruleset like ALS.

yes open raiding would have fixed this problem. Unfortunately I was unable to manage that due to personal circumstance; and the advent of 2x monthly repops obfuscated timer info so when the Department of Fun tried to pick up the ball, I don't think they got info they needed.
