A lot of the velious armor graphics suffer that problem: They're too "artsy." That being said, helms in general tend to look dumb. It's hard to make a full helm covering a human head that doesn't look ridiculous. Medieval great helms and bascinets look stupid. Form follows function.
To answer the original post, we're in essence already overdue for these helms to be added in-game, so we'll get them whenever the powers that be get around to doing the next era patch. Danth | ||

The only ones that make me cringe are the half-elf banana helm and wood elf space ship hat. The female iksar one is pretty weird too.
Overall though, I think they did a good job designing these helmets. | ||
