Default Decent 1H weapon for Wiz

I know I know I know... why does a Wizard need a weapon? Hear me out for second.

I generally solo and try to conserve mana as much as possible and I don't mind chasing down the threat when they start to run. As I am about to reach level 30 it's time to upgrade my smoldering brand to something better without spending 2k.

Anyone have suggestions for a decent 1H weapon for a Wizard that goes for under 2k?

Wizard weapon skill is awful. Even with a decent ratio weapon you won't approach the efficiency of just medding and nuking.

Just sub in your staff of temperate flux to hit fleeing mobs.

Dont waste time with a melee weapon. Sell the brand and get a Solist's Icy Wand to finish mobs.

At level 30 and higher it's for sure faster to med and cast a nuke, but if for whatever reason you want to do that anyway save for a Velium Crystal Staff I guess.

Sometimes you don't want to sit (e.g. Might aggro extra adds or you have something else beating you). In such situations I switch to my Lost Staff of the Scorned (it's 2hb though).

It's a click. It's amazing item. The best. Great melee. All the way from 1-16. Even higher when you have to. In the 40s and up? Mana free port to a wizard friendly city. Very good friends. Lovely city. 18 seconds, zero mana. For the whole group!
