Get yourself a reclaim energy click item. Then you don't use mana, just a bit of time. the mage focus items from temple of sol ro are what you want; any of them work from inventory.

OOPS! Forgot to add.

Get broom if possible. It's the easiest and cheapest to obtain. All components can be found on venders in either North Freeport or EC or both

It's crap. Maybe keep it random but lessen the chance of casting a crap pet as you increase in levels. That would be 'amazing, immersive and somewhat classic'
