Mage: Pet damage cap/damage formula

I put a 17 damage 2h on my pet at level 4 and he was hitting for 35 max hit. Obviously this is way higher than the damage cap players have at similar levels. Does anyone know if there is a cap or what the formula is? If I give him a Weighted Axe is he going to hit for like 80-90?

Formula is (weapon damage * 2 ) +1. It will only apply if your pets innate damage is lower than what the formula gives which is why the pet started hitting 35s with a 17 damage weapon. AFAIK delay is unaffected and weighted axe is the only weapon nerfed by this (pet simply will not equip it). Not sure if there is a cap but good weapons to do this with are cheap 2handers like the baton of faith.

Pets SHOULD be able to equip a Weighted Axe and do 90 DMG. However they cannot equip them on this server.

I've had that bug post and another one going for 3 or so years now.

EXACTLY what I was looking for. Last night I was in FM. First hillock I kill drops a Weighted Axe....look at the axe then I look at my pet.....and I didn't give it to him because I wasn't sure he would equip it so I sold it in EC for like 4k. JK, I vendered it.

Anyway, I know pets used to be able to equip them on Live. The dmg was....a very nice perk for Mages [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] and others of course.

So can pets dual wield 2h weapons currently? Is the only issue is being able to equip a weight axe? I haven't even tried this on my mage.

Both are issues.

I'm more concerned with the weighted axe over them DWing them though.

I also think it's about time that pets stop dual wielding with torches/offhand items.

So question. I'm new to server but thinking of playing a necro or mage. What is a decent cheap wep for destroying the world in? Least till I get my basic spells that define my class.
