Default now this is a GM event!

I been playin EVE lately (the game that puts the sand into "Sandbox MMO")

Last week GM's put on a "Live Event" for the carebears, rallying 100s of people, mostly new, into a staging area, then making some bad decisions and pretty much leading 100s of players into a slaughterhouse, therefore causing a lot of lost spaceships and pissed off customers. This can be compared to EQ by going to a GM event, and then losing some gear and then told that the event is over.

their forums are blowing up right now with angry customers, such as this thread:
https://forums.eveonline.com/default...69&find=unread

so if u ever thought a GM event u been to was horrible, just compare it to this!

An hour long? That's not even close to an EQ GM event

it was a total flop, probably was suppose to go longer. Also people were prepping for hours before too. and 1hr was just the additional unnecessary travel time after the GMs told them to rally in a different spot

EVE is a great game... especially if you're a space/scifi geek. It has a large learning curve though... I've played off and on for several years now. Typically my playtime consists of me getting stoned and staring at my internet spaceship while flying it around in circles too scarred to take it too far from hisec space like its some kind of vintage corvette i don't want to scratch.

I recall when they added the micro transaction store and some inside memo from CCP got leaked mocking players... the subscribers were so annoyed they staged a giant protest in the games most popular trading hub (the EC of eve jita iv). They would cap off the maximum amount of players allowed in the zone (1500) not allowing shipments of goods to get in the zone and hundreds players attacked monuments all at once creating tons of lag. It was actually pretty cool and I believe it worked sorta... they still don't have pay to win items in the store.

I tried this game once, I think I made it to the point were it said something like "Please wait 6 days to build this <item>".

Ya no fucking thanks, I'll pass on that bullshit.

Eve is one of those games that just sound awesome when you read stories about it or hear people talking about it, the problem is that its more entertaining to listen to their stories than it is to actually play. They tend to leave out the 2 years of mining and grinding missions they had to do before the cool stuff started to happen.

I played it for about 5 months and was looking at at least another year to get to the point of what I considered acceptable (just talking research times alone) This was just after they released the first expansion so im not sure what it is like now. If you guys think waiting 6 days is bad, you didn't even see the slow stuff lol.
