Usually seen in young, smoking females who're also on the pill - especially the ones with high estrogen. Also, as already mentioned, high blood pressure, preexisting clot disorders or vascular disease, primarily concering the venous system, aaaaaaaaaand.... obesity determine the risk of thrombosis. Combine that with lack of muscle contraction, one of the main engines that help the venous blood rise / flow towards the heart and BAM, worst case pulmonary embolism, potentially stroke and death.
