DVT can happen to pretty much anyone who goes very long periods without moving. That's why you should get up at least every couple of hours and walk around/take a piss/grab a drink etc. just to get your blood moving around. This chick didn't move for like 20+ hours.

Usually seen in young, smoking females who're also on the pill - especially the ones with high estrogen. Also, as already mentioned, high blood pressure, preexisting clot disorders or vascular disease, primarily concering the venous system, aaaaaaaaaand.... obesity determine the risk of thrombosis. Combine that with lack of muscle contraction, one of the main engines that help the venous blood rise / flow towards the heart and BAM, worst case pulmonary embolism, potentially stroke and death.
