Default Ranger Shaman duo

Friend and I are planning on doing a ranger shaman duo, we are both completely new so zero twinkage. Will the ranger have difficulty tanking while leveling up? Would rather not have to kite the entire time.

Also, I've been reading on the forums about monks doing more dps than rangers. With comparable gear, how much more dps are we talking? Like double the dps or like 10% more...?

Thanks!

Ever played a ranger before? Especially pre-pop? Tough business, buddy. Fear kiting is really nice though, it made a big difference adding that.

Sorry, lots of time playing rangers (main on live and have one on the emu), but not so much with a shammy duo. Lots of time with drui duo though, and crazy enough a pally duo. But tanking was never a strong point of the ranger, but with a lot of gearing... er have the shammy tank [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Anyway, the slow and haste will help a lot. So not the worst duo by far. As long as you're having fun. If you are wanting to do any serious raiding later, may want to opt for the monk.

Should be a pretty good duo. If you get an iksar or troll cazic shm they can fear undead and you snare, and at 22 u can fear animals. Lots of lvling opportunites, and harmony is great.

Monks do significantly more dps than rangers. Almost as importantly, they take far less damage than rangers. Even more importantly, a good monk ensures that you never have to worry about getting too many adds on a pull.

I like rangers myself, and it would be a fine duo. But monks are a way stronger class.

Shaman's can solo well 45+, and the only things a shaman really lacks is an ability to split camps. If you ever plan to level in dungeons or camp items inside, you will be very happy if you have a monk, sk, or even paladin (to lull) instead of a ranger.
