The key to a great shave though is a hot towel for 10 minutes or so beforehand. Also shaving first-thing in the morning is generally not good practice since most people have some minor inflammation/ swelling of their skin.

Plus wash face first, gentle exfoliation, hot towel, beard softener or moisturizer. Also the more blades you use actually increases friction. Don't use those bullshit razors, be a real man and use a single edged blade or one of the old school "safety razors", the kind where you twist off the top and replace the double edged blade. You have to use shaving soap and a proper brush to lather up.
