Merchants: Rogue trainer accepts points+plat for poison making to 200

Rogue trainer accepts your plat and ability points and you can skill up your poison making, I spent like 500 plat and 110 ability points doing this. Then when you go to actually make a poison your skills reset to zero but you dont get your ability points or plat back. Apparently you are supposed to put the points into apply poison, this then make sit so you cant put them into apply poison and kind of ruins your rogue.
