These things need more research (classic items):
I've been doing some research on classic items and have come across a number of documents with interesting information. However, just one or two sources are not enough and information is generally lacking. Here are some things of interest that some people can possibly find some more information on, or perhaps offer their unclouded classic knowledge.
Dark Reaver possibly had its proc changed from Steelskin to Steal Strength at one point. This kind of makes sense considering It's a 32 Necro spell (SKs eventually get it at 56) and kind of fits with the weapon. However, a 230 rune was obviously too powerful and was nerfed. This may have just been an error on a document that was pretty accurate throughout, however. The earliest Allakhazam listing is June 19 2000 and lists Steal Strength. An item once existed called Green Platemail Gloves. There are numerous classic references to them (including Allakhazam, Monkly Business, etc) all listing the same stats, but never any drop information. Most of these sources also claim that the item no longer drops. Stats were 14 AC 7 STR 5 DEX MNK/ROG. They definitely dropped somewhere prior to Kunark but from what? Cat Skull Cap is possibly supposed to drop from gelatinous cubes in Qeynos Catacombs according to Allakhazam but I can't find anything supporting it. I haven't done Runnyeye enough to know if it drops there, but it's a classic item. An item existed called Star of the Eyes. It was removed. It had unlimited right click Identify. Wand of the Burning Dead. Apparently a Freeport quest, although I can't find any information on how it was completed. I didn't look super super hard, it may even exist on P99. It's possible the quest was removed at some point? Little information. Bladed Thulian Claws were called Demon Claws until they changed the name due to it being "offensive." This really doesn't need additional research but throwing it on the list. Erudite Madman which I'm not even sure is spawning on P99 (haven't seen him yet) dropped Earring of Fire Reflection. Stiletto of the Bloodclaw originally dropped from Drelzna. Blue Diamond equipment did NOT exist in classic. I've found item lists that have practically all known drops (including stuff above that we don't know much about) that have no Kunark items, that also lack any Blue Diamond gear. Jacinth, Diamond, etc gear did exist.

Easiest thing to do is go through all the equipment links on that archived page to find missing things (but disregard all the epic quest item drops like Hand of Maestro and Eye of Innoruuk and such). I checked out everlore, casters realm, and eqlizer archives too, but alla seemed like the best preserved archive to dig through.

I typed the Green Platemail Gloves into our ingame data base on Al'kabor and no entry came back.
Basically all items come back as in game links with this tool, even oakwynd and things that never dropped on Al'kabor like the Ring of Flowing Slime. So basically its not in the EQ database for the first 4 and a half expansions. Closest item that came back with those three words was Green Fine Plate Gauntlets. This is not to say they never existed, but if I found them there, you'd have "proof" they were real EQ items. Only thing with Demon in it came back as Demon Fangs, a no drop item with no stats. (guess they just changed the entries name instead of creating a new thing/deleting the old thing). edit: I'll do a search based on the stats of those gloves and see what comes up.. I cannot find any gloves with those exact stats under any other name. | ||

I used to have a small list of forgotten items that I wanted to research more.
Off the top of my head, I remember Griffon Helm, which supposedly dropped off of the ranger GM in Kithicor forest, the aptly named Kithicor. I've killed him a few times on blue and it was confirmed that it didn't drop. Either way, I felt it probably went mostly undocumented because the mob was too hard, but the helm certainly fits into classic stat balance. It's a good thing you're on Al'Kabor, Palemoon. When I was researching it, I considered asking someone on there to kill him a few times to check if the drop is real. Are you strong enough to do that? One more in the same zone was the Blood Riven Axe. I couldn't find any evidence except for a post or two in the comments, but I believe it was originally a drop from Laarthik K`Shin (one comment on that page indicates the drop) I have no way of confirming it unless someone can smack him down on Al'Kabor or live a few times. My reason for believing it is as follows: First, it became a drop from General V`ghera, who's loot table contains stuff from other mobs around the game, such as Pugius, Ashenbone shield, and Enchanted Fine Steel Morningstar Second, the axe is crap and seems to fall in line with classic SK 2hs weapons, being roughly similar to A Dark Reaver. Third, Laarthik is the only named undead in the zone and seems to have no function other than in-game lore or something. Last but not least, the Identify data on the item is: "Item Lore: Laarthik K`Shin's Axe ". hehe I'll think of other ones as I remember them
