Default Damage Cap for Level 10 melee broken

FYI..

Damage cap for level 10-20 melees is broken. A level 10 melee should be capped around 29 damage until level 20. They are currently hitting for 40ish with the right weapon.

Anyobody who played a twink in classic can confirm this. This is why there was such a rush to get to level 20 when every twink and their sister had a Wurmslayer trying to get past the damage cap.

This article sort of backs up what I'm saying

http://old.eqcircle.com/articles/sta...aponbasics.htm

I was naseauated to be in an Orc 1 group on my twink to see a level 10 hitting for 40 with a BIBS.

When you reach 28 you are awarded a DMG bonus, this is added to the weapons base DMG and acts as the normal base DMG (unresistable). Every 3 levels from 28 you are awarded an increase in your DMG bonus, for 1 handed weapons the increase is 1 point per every increase (every 3 levels). For 2 handed weapons it will usually depend on the weapons delay. If the weapon has a high delay (slow) then it will be given a bigger DMG bonus than a low delay (fast) weapon. In general axes get a big DMG bonus as many are very slow and piercing weapons get a low DMG bonus, as many are very fast. Sword and 1 Hand Blunt weapon stats tend to vary greatly so there is no 'in general' there.
It said here the dmg bonus goes in at 28. If anything, two hand users are actually more gimped right now. The "2hand" fix hasnt gone in yet.

I've almost always played melees and I will clarify this is broken and not classic, nor were "damage bonus".

There was always hard caps at 20, 30, 40, and 50 for max dmg you could hit even with maxed strength. If you were an Ogre war with 255 str at lvl19, you could not hit over 29 with a 40 dmg weapon.

Upon dinging 20, I believe the cap was around 55/60 till 30, where it spiked up in the 90s

Upon dinging 40, I believe players could hit over 100, and 50 I believe was unrestricted dmg with dmg bonus on weapon and your strength.

People have argued with me saying these damage bonuses do not effect weapons in game but I sit at 190 str and notice I hit about double + some change with weapon dmg+bonus, and gain meager amounts when str buffed.

(24/42 weapon, 14 dmg bonus. 38x2 = 72, I normally hit for 86 with 190 str, when im at 250, I hit for 105.)

It's something I haven't completely figured out to a science, but clearly dmg caps on server are not classic and the dps system is the "fixed" luclin era dmg.
