Game Mechanics: Heretics too friendly to foreigners.

The Heretics are supposed to be typically scowls, ready to attack to most race / class / religions, though some are threatening, and dubious.

But on P99 it seems that almost every race is welcome. Here are some examples from Allakhazam on how it should be.

I am an Agnostic monk. I am KOS to the guards, and to Noclin Saah, right off, but dub to that guy in the window above. I hope to get enough faction so that I'm not, soon though.

Can DE necro become indiff? I have been killing kobolds in stonebrunt and warrens from level 18 thru level 21. I started threateningly and have moved up to dubious. I worship innoruk. Will I eventually become indiff or better if I keep killing kobolds? If so how many more levels do I have to kill here? I want to be able to shop in Paineel for supplies. At dubious I can't shop, but I can bank if someone lets me in the city. Also what faction do I need to get my own key to paineel?

Got both my barb shammie and iksar monk (Tribunal and Cazic worhippers, respectively) to dubious with the Heretics.

Took just over 500 kobalds kills for both. Woulda thought that because Monk worships Cazic, it would be less, but its not.

Note you that need to be amiable or better to get a key from the guards.

Hmmm, may be a religion factor. My monk worships Quellious and I was able to go from scowling to dubious in about 2-3 hours of constant killing.

Hope it's just as easy to raise my Cabilis faction killing goblins; gotta get that Shackle of Tynnonium.

Half-elf ranger of Karana took 1324 Kobald kills to raise to amiable, which is enough to get the key to Paineel. The first 1000 kills only got me to aprehensive, the last 300 or so were enough to breeze through indifferent to amiable.

If I had know this before I started I never would have done it, but after the first two hours there was no stopping until I could get that key. Not that I needed it.

-1324 faction hits, even with max amiable is scowls.

It took me about 1300+ Kobolds to get to Apprehensive

My 51st human paladin (who worships Mithaniel Marr) has been bringing a holocaust down upon the kobolds in the Warrens for 8+ hours now (in excess of 1000 kobold kills) and he is still being scowled at by the Paineel guards. I'll admit, I've taken maybe five negative hits with the Heretics over the past year, but this seems ridiculous to me. Anyone have any suggestions?

First of All im a 52 druid who was kos to Heretics but am not threatingly after a few hrs of decimating the kobold population, what I do is load up on Ac and Hp buffs load my Point Blank Ae spells upheaval for 677, and earthquake 300 something, i gather anywhere between 10-100 kobolds at a time and i stand ina corner trying to channel threw there hits, It has never failed and my biggest Massacre was 105 kills with a single spell, imagine me doing this for 4hrs and just get threatingly from it, so faction here is pain in ass to raise dont give up.

Hmm, my Vah Shir Beastlord with no faction modifications visited Paineel and found himself dubious. Maybe it's different as a Shaman, but I was not KOS.

If you don't care about Erudin faction, then slaughtering the guards in Erudin & Erudin Palace is the way to go. I just cleared the dock area in Erudin, then zoned into Erudin Palace and cleared the guards there as well. In total I did this maybe 2 or 3 times (probably took like 45 mins to an hour) and I was max ally Heretics (and Kerra) and max KoS to Erudin. This was with a Bertoxx Necro Human starting at Dubious faction.

Sounds like it's probably the right idea, except replace 100 kobolds with closer to 1000. As a Troll Shadow Knight, I've killed over 600 of the buggers (give or take some change) and got my faction up from threatening to apprehensive, but still can't get the key quest from the guard... and all I want to do is buy a key to the Hole. Yes, I know you can wiggle your way through, but Trolls are big, and we no fit so well through small spaces. But then again, what do I know, I'm just a dumb Troll.

Iksar SK - started out as scowling with the guards in the Paineel newbie area and the guards outside Erudin. Am now kindly with the Paineel guards and dubious with Erudin guards. Got my Paineel key from the newbie area guards at amiable - just hail and say "I need keyz".

I will continue killing in the warrens until I am ally w/ Heretics. Then will kill Elial Brooks until I am indiff in Erudin.

So far I've spent 5 days, 3 hours a day killing Kobolds in the Warrens.

A brell mage also mentioned being scowls, but its a long post talking bout farming guards.

Yeah, this is the 3rd paineel issue ive been researching tonight.

Really, the big 3 things, are, 1. The Heretics are NOT friendly to outsiders. 2. The don't hand their keys out to everyone. 3. The guard spawn timers are currently inaccurate.
