His point was that bringing up rape with regard to abortion is a red herring, because the vast majority of abortions performed are not the result of rape. Rape is already a crime, the law is not legalizing rape. I do think the texas abortion law goes too far, because I think genuine rape victims who get pregnant deserve special considerations, but he is right to point out that the law barely affects anyone on those grounds, because the vast, vast majority of abortions are not the result of a rape.

When was the last time you heard a Governor come out and say they are doing everything they can to aggressively eliminate all rapists? Credit to Governor Abbott for his strong political stance.
