I think it is a problem of empathy. They are deficient in it, but are capable of observing it. They want the benefits they think come with being a victim, but will not willingly cede any of the powers that oppressors typically wield.
For people that complain about identity politics, they sure try to utilize idpol for white grievance issues.
They interpret the fact that nobody cares about white grievance as anti-white bias because their understanding of empathy is poor.
