If you exclude the enchanted gem ( buy the gem, have a priest enchant it ) get yourself some dwarven imbued armor and absolutely clap your way to level 60. For ssf the juice is worth the squeeze for crafting.
Make banded up to like 175, farm a few thousand, craft fine plate which will serve as an intermediate until enchanted imbued.
If youre going ssf, go all in on it. Its a great feeling of accomplishment crafting your own powerful gear once youve put the time in.
