To be honest I think races should be clumped together. I don't think it's very fair/inclusive to make races such as barbarian stand alone due to the lack of class choices + rarity of race.
I think the event should encompass a evil/neutral/good element or race archtypes such as:
elf: half elf, wood elf, high elf
dark: ogre, troll, dark elf
human: barbarian, human, erudite
small: dwarf, gnome, halfling
or good/neutral/evil:
evil: dark elf, ogre, troll, erudite
neutral: human, halfling, gnome, barbarian
good: dwarf, high elf, wood elf, half elf
