Problem with bard is that I'd feel like a battery for the group instead of actually doing anything.

ranger can do even less. can barely heal. can barely buff. can't really snare or root because it will overwrite necro dot and be overwritten by earth pet.
can sit back and do negligible damage with bow.

Good. Ignore the min/maxers. Rangers are a fun class. Not powerful and sometimes frustrating, but still fun.
