You're forgetting that those farmers are veterans of a war won against the USSR, complete with training by us. They also have the benefit/curse of some of the most difficult terrain in the world to assault and the easiest terrain in the world to defend.
Saying what you said like you said it is a gross oversimplification of the truth.

We could cite all sorts of specifics about every conflict where a nations army was involved with fighting guerrillas and find little commonality between them.
I was responding to the guy who goes on about how our military is full of shit heads, then acts like they could wipe out any type of rebellion with the push of a button. Was it oversimplified? Sure.
