I've "fixed" it probably 30+ times in game. The way this works is.. due to the unique spawn specifics of the group (1-5), this had to be written in perl. Originally, it would break by simultaneously killing placeholders. Fixed that, and had no problems for a while. A few times I spawned their controller to do additional tests.. that would be the overcompensation you experienced. I see no way they can social aggro..they have a very small aggro radius, but ignore their primary assist. It might seem like they assist if you wander within the radius of two of them.
I will look into writing a script checker to automate this fix until the underlying cause is found.
