I agree with you 100% that we can't get hyped for this game with out knowing who it caters too (not us)
But, I like and play Planetside 2 and it has the One of the best f2p systems out there.

What server? I play Matherson TR w/ The Enclave since beta. It's a fun game for sure, but their Free/Pay to play system sucks dick. The game is over saturated w/ shit guns and there is and will constantly be shit you pay for, membership or not.
EQ Next is a long ways off still.
