As far as +wis items go, it's almost irrelevant. The number of situations where you having the +10-30 mana or so from it are going to be so few and far between, it's essentially silly to worry about. From 1-13 or so, a decent ratio weapon might be better than medding, in which case, smoldering brand is a solid (and cheap) choice.
