A good MMO (like EQ) is all about the playerbase. The friends you make, the enemies you make, and the ways you can interact with them and help to shape the community. That's what I like about EverQuest, though I accept that others feel differently. Many players here treat the game (for lack of a better example) like a FPS deathmatch game, and if the community sucks they don't care because at least they're getting killshots. But some people do agree with me, and quite a few of them have expressed their opinions:

When you see a thread wherein posters reminisce about "the old days" of VZTZ, and then watch as it devolves into whiny complaints of "our douchbaggery was
technically legal!" and mudslinging contests, it's really no surprise to me that server population is suffering. Leveling is even slower on blue, and their population is just fine. We're playing the same game as them, but with an added element of pvp. Really we should have a higher population :/
