haha, that was EQClassic too....
The ONLY thing that saved me - was being a Wizard. I kept respawning, managed to get Evac memmed and got the hell to the zone line. Begged for a corpse summon... I think I had to pay for a 'few', since I had multiples in there - that was painful.
That was then; this is now: LOL!!!
So last night - I grouped up with a few guys. Hella' fun - only a level 3 SK and already in a group~~
So we are busy kickin' butt in the Qeynos newb area, migrate on to Qeynos Hills. Just chopping the heads off of gnolls. We rule.
Zone into Blackburrow... top level is cleared, we kill a couple spawns and proceed on to Halas. The EF area's good for just mass slaughter - usually.
About 15+ deaths later that night, I finally made it back into BB. The Vengefuls were out - with a Vengeance!!
The funniest part was - I couldn't figure just out where my corpse with my gear was. I started remembering that 'have you seen my corpse' YouTube Video!! lol!! I did find it though, as luck and experience in EQ taught me - I had cash in the bank and an extra sword.
And as usual in classic EQ - no gear complicates things - dramatically. Got killed by so many mobs... Ice Goblins, Gnolls, more Vengefuls and more Vengefuls.
But.. with bad luck, sometimes comes good luck. I did remember to get a bind in Halas - which was bittersweet, because the fantastic Shaman who bound us there, found we were 'broke newbs' - and hooked us up with a
nice little pile of coin - I won't mention the name, not that anyone would pester him for anything - but still - thanks again dude

So yeah - a crapload of bad and good luck all in one night. Ahhh, EQ!
PS: a Note to SK's... Vendors in Halas don't like you, they won't sell to you - even if you have a good amount in the bank.
That defines EQ: Being a Newb, a wonderful person hooks you up with some coin, you are stuck in a city looking for your corpse as a SK with a few levels before 'sense corpse' - and not one single vendor will sell you even a rusty dagger, lol!
Thank God something told me to 'bank that newbie sword' ...
