why i stopped trying new mmorpgs, and always end up back at eq classic. There simply will never be another good mmorpg pvp. everything is spoonfed, maps, no penalty on death.
im not saying the grind is good, but im saying the grind keeps away alot of the trash players so you only have the cream of the crop people willing to invest in there characters.
bad for bis, good for gameplay. and thats why there will never be another EQ.

as far as fantasy goes, eq will always be my fav but there are mmos out there alot more harsh than eq with permadeath and such. in eve when you die you lose all the "gear" you had on you. this can amount up to 1000's of US dollars worth of stuff gone in a flash. pras eq but it isnt too harsh.
edit: isnt too harsh for people like me who came up playing this game, now i can see someone (not saying you but in general) whos first mmo was wow will think eq is hardcore to the max. not trying to take anything from eq, just throwing my opinion out there for someone to shit on.
