cleric/chanter seems like a ton of work. Huge payoff, but wouldn't it be fairly difficult to micromanage? Same with shaman/bard (because bard songs are so micro intensive)

Not much to it... the only "problems" are if charm breaks while the cleric is healing the pet. At that point you're racing to get the cleric to heal teh enchanter and the enchanter to re-charm
