The Noah's Ark story is simply an expression of the human experience and condition. Mankind is capable of great evil, and the world is capable of unexplainable and terrible destruction. The rainbow, more than a promise, is our hope.
It bothers me when Christians take the Bible literally. We have science to take literally, religion is supposed to be irrational and nonsensical (while still revealing great truths to the universe and ourselves) imo.
