Taking out custom spell making was such a WTF move in Skyrim to me. That was the best thing about the magic system.
The Secret World is interesting, and different. It still didn't hold my interest for more than a couple of weeks. Mostly because the "end game" is doing the same 8 dungeon instances. Over. And over. And over. And over. Oh, and they also lock you out after the first kill of a dungeon.
