I seem to remember the commonlands merchants being on some weird faction like Knights of Truth or something for a while. Not sure if it's still the case, but yeah either way you're pretty much stuck with orc genocide. There is an orc camp in WC along the northern border with 8 or so orcs and the occasional roaming pawn that's usually open. Collect deathfist belts and sell if you don't want to turn them in.
Murissa(sp?) Sandwhisper in Nro is on the dervish faction, so unless you killed dervs she should sell to you, in case you're just looking for a merchant in the area besides Shady.

Murissa is wierd on faction with the dervish, for myself it didn't appear to be on a 1:1 ratio with the dervish. Once upon a time I was apprehensive with the dervish, and was able to sell just fine to Murissa. I then did some help with some newbies, this knocked down my faction to dubious with the dervish. I then became unable to sell to her as a result of being dubious to the dervish.
