The druid will get exp and you won't get any xp because of the lvl gap(your lvl+half your lvl). It would be the same as if you were grouping in crushbone and had a lvl 5 in group. You would get exp on mobs that are light blue and above, but the lvl 5 would be like "wtf no exp!" ... now the space between I'm not sure of. If you were far enough away from someone in your party you wouldn't be sharing exp. I'm not sure if that would get you out of the pet xp penalty, but you could try. Seems like a lot of pet classes would just group with anyone randomly far enough away in a zone if this were the case and I don't see that so I'm gonna say it prolly can't be done.
