For just a few thousand plat you can get any toon leveled up to 30ish very quickly, and then getting to 50 is still not much work. Then you have to consider that the buyer must deal with whatever race, gender, face, and name you happened to pick. Having a guised toon helps mitigate this value loss (although not really in the case of a bard or rogue). So I would either complete his epic as you mentioned and/or grind out some 51+ levels to increase the value.
