Thoughts:
-PvP events in Steamfont are not classic and requires a bunch of artificial rules about "boundries" and "buildings" and "kos NPCs" and "trees" ,etc.
Classic PvP events held in The Arena. Less lag, easier to view the gladiators, easier to film the event, etc. And if this is done partly for publicity, the nostalgia of pvp events in The Arena is moreso then an altered steamfont noob ground with a bunch of giant DE guards in a square formation and a wildly out of era beholder thing as the camera man. Keep it Classic.
-Server is small enough to have a much less structured and hassle free organic type pvp event. Just spawn a NPC in an easy to get to location (eastcommons?etc) with some prize on it. Give said NPC a LOT of hps but low DPS. Maybe put a timer on said mob. Nihilum gets a prize if they kill the mob before it "completes its ritual and escapes or wtf ever", the non-nihilum get prize if they succeed in delaying the destruction of said mob and allowing it to "escape"
Classic "organized army" (nihilum) vs. "guerrilla warriors" (everyone else who has wet dreams about hit-and-run combat). Half of Nihilum (or whatever the largest force is online that is assigned the goal of "killing the creature") will be tied up with bringing down the NPC, the other half fighting off the delaying tactics of the "guerrilla warriors".
Just seems much more simple, organic, and fun then "lets all pick teams for a hour, then assist train some". A ton less headache for staff too.
No more talk about removing xp on pvp death, Sirken is right in that xp is FAR too fast and easy on this server. Brokenly so. Game/era/immersion/system breaking so and should be looked at/into.
