He came across an old newspaper clipping, a Spanish map, and an artifact relating to a rumor of a lost but not forgotten pirate treasure somewhere in the area. Initially reluctant, the group eventually caved-in to Heartbrand's Jewish persuasion and tales of fortune and fame.

They head down the coast and stumble upon a derelict seaside restaurant that seems to match the coordinates set by the map and an old doubloon. Unbeknownst to our young Hebrew adventurer, this restaurant was being used as a hideout by a family of fugitives. Heartbrand, the group's clumsy, heavy-set dreamer and teller of tall tales, was sent off to get help. However, the fugitive family returned before he could do so, and they captured young Heartbrand to interrogate him. He spilled all of the beans. This pal was not one for keeping secrets.
The family placed Heartbrand in the same room as the forsaken and deformed fugitive brother, Hammertime, while the rest of the fugitives went to find the other treasure hunters.
