I played an enchanter on Live and from my memory I think the CHA check on charm breaks was only applicable to Enchanters and Bards because they could mez anything so there was a double check every tick. If one of the values (MR and CHA) failed, then charm broke.
For classes that had specific charm lines (Animal, Undead, Summoned) it was only a single check, MR.
I think that's how it works, but shit, that was 14 years ago so what do I know.
