i'd say so, but thats just me. even picking one up for 1000 shouldn't be a crippling hit if you've been saving money (and you likely have, since iksar have few gear choices). Imo meleeing with a 1hander as a shaman is just a wastes of time. But, if you find yourself rarely getting up close and personal, obviously it'd just be a waste of time.
It all boils down to your personal playstyle, really. I find myself doing a fair bit of melee, so i replaced my slime coated with the censer.
