No, that isnt true. You must have played the game when they nerfed the towers, i played 2 months beta, then 2 months into launch. The towers would kill you in a couple of hits. More, the towers would wait till you were much inside their radius to start spamming lightning, so you couldnt hop in and out of it and got invariably killed.
