Uh how is that not a touchdown? I've seen this play atleast 5 times in the last 10 years, 2 players come down with a ball (simultaneous posession) and the offensive player always wins. You can see Golden Tate's hand on the inside of Green Bay's defenders arms which are already closing down on the ball, isn't much to argue about here...regular referees would have made the same call 99.9% of the time in that same situation.

Rule 8, Section 1, Article 3, Item 5 states:
Simultaneous Catch. If a pass is caught simultaneously by two eligible opponents, and both players retain it, the ball belongs to the passers.
It is not a simultaneous catch if a player gains control first and an opponent subsequently gains joint control. If the ball is muffed after simultaneous touching by two such players, all the players of the passing team become eligible to catch the loose ball.
That is why it was a bad call- The second situation is what occurred
[You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] However, I'm not a Greenbay Packers fan or a Seattle fan so it didn't really affect me. Was another terrible call to add to the list though that the replacements have made and is an embarassment to the league.
