I can't believe I have to post this, but I'm going to repeat this truism for those of you who don't understand why anyone would pay for items they want in game:
Time is money.
That's not philosophical or metaphysical. It's fact. All of the physical items you think of as wealth are made from minerals, plant fibers and animal products. None of those things in their raw form are worth much when they're buried in the ground or in the middle of a jungle. Their value is determined by the human effort required to retrieve and refine them.
Can you think of an example of that last part? No, I didn't think so. Never mind.

"hey look that guy is so good at this game, look at all the gear he skillfully bought with his credit card, look at that toon that he payed someone else to pay for him, he is so good, how can i be that good?"
or
"hey that guild is best guild on the server, do you see all those accounts they RMTed that takes real skill, they just completely annihilated their competition with they phat pay-pal lewts"
do you see where im going with this? RMT makes it to where even the most worthless guilds and players can acquire the best loot in the game, with zero effort. and before you say "but but, time is money" which is absolutely correct except in regards to this game where people think time/money = skill, which couldnt be further from the truth
