Ok, so admittedly its been many, many years since I've played EQ but last night the sound just wasn't working the I remembered it.

I could barely hear party members casting spells, taking damage or the mobs being attacked. The only way I could really hear those sounds was to stand right beside them. On the other hand my own spell casts and damage sounds were just as I remembered them.

I looked through the sound settings but all I really saw was overall volume, music volume and "realism" playing with the realism/quality slider didn't real make any perceptible difference.

My sound device is the SPDIF out on a NVIDIA based XFX mobo going into a receiver in stereo mode.

Any ideas?
