I had to add to this thread - just started a druid, LoL. The level 1 and level 5 spells are reasonable - 1g and 6g respectively. Then we get to level 9. OMG, if I did not have a higher level char to supply druid with items to sell for cash, druid would not be playable.
Level 9 druid spells are almost all around 5p 2g right now - including Ignite, Thistlecoat, Starshine, Firefist, and Treeform. What is really interesting is that the level 14 druid spells seem to be LESS expensive (though still high, it seems), with Invigor, Levitate, See Invisible, and Enduring Breath at around 4p 2g. We are not talking about spells that are not used often, either ...
Why the heck are the level 9 druid spells so durn expensive???? Even costing significantly (25%) more than most of the level 14 spells!!!!

EQ's spell prices are generally dictated by the lowest level at which any class can use the spell - so if a druid gets see invis at 14 whereas a chanter gets it at 8, it will have the price level of a level 8 spell.
As another, more telling example, Root for necros is a level 34 spell, but it's level 4 for many classes...so it's cheap.
Most of the level 9 druid spells are unique to the class (or to them and Rangers) and therefore priced @ level 9. And you're expected to have found ways of making decent $$ between 5-9. One thing we love about EQ - no hand holding. Sink or swim
