It's not as hard to get back to a body as you may think, unless you died in a really awkward spot, or you're just having terrible luck finding people to help (off hours, slow day, week without a shower etc).
Porters are usually more than willing to help to get you as close as possible to a body, necros can summon it, clerics can rez etc etc. Of course it's nice to be kind if you decide to outright ask and not beg. It's also nice to donate whatever you can to those nice people for their time. And of course, guilds will usually be more than willing to help their members in their endeavors. So long as the guild isn't full of assholes.
