I had a '79 chevette in the late 90's. That thing was super awesome and a death trap all rolled into one.
It had:
* A custom flat black pain job (looked to be done with spraypaint
* an AM radio with occasionally-functioning 8-track player
* occasionally-malfunctioning breaks.
That last feature was the reason I ended up having to give it up. I had to use the emergency breaks combined with turning off the engine while still moving and grinding the tires on a curb to stop the car the last time I drove it.
