Although I definitely don't see the monks wielding any weapons, I do see casting animations, AKA epic clicking.
Until you roll against the monks with Fungi Tunic+Fungi Staff and they have +15 regen on you the entire fight.

Even if you could use fungi staff click, snaring yourself in exchange for 150hp/min does not seem like a good trade off.
