The only things I've ever pushed for are design considerations made for the lower population, and increased staff/dev interaction and moderation on the forums (for obvious reasons). I try to do this without disrespecting them too much because I do appreciate what they are providing here for free.
Not everyone is a selfish brat trying to get their way. Some are looking at the big picture with genuine concern (ie: what will make it most successful for the majority of potential players).
I never really personally cared about the exp rate in itself, for example. I did care that the lower level zones were completely empty (read: NOT classic) and that a huge number of players from TZ/VZTZ were quitting because they hated the exp grind coupled with the lack of player interaction. It's not really that complicated. Most people aren't going to play what was remembered as a highly socially interactive MMO on a server where you are forced to grind by yourself 99% of the time. Maybe the former necro players and the guys who were already 50 seven months ago are still enjoying it, but that's obviously a small number of players.
This isn't to excuse the trolls who shit all over the forums intentionally - just pointing out that there are valid points of feedback here.
