I used to play on satellite. Would crash on every zoneline (literally... EVERY zoneline. and as a druid, that gets very, very old....), but I rarely experienced the problem you're having.

The reason 56k works for EQ, while satellite does not -- as an educated guess -- are ping times. When the data takes too long to go from your computer to the server and back, you crash when you try to load.

It takes a lot longer for a satellite signal to make this journey (your computer->server->your computer) than a signal blasting down copper wires. I actually switched over to 56k for about 3 months after my satellite internet usage, and 56k was WAY better to play EQ with. I would still hang up on zonelines at times, but it wasn't a 100% chance that I was going to crash on every zone (like satellite).

So my only reasonable explanation of why satellite suuucks for EQ are ping times.

Currently have been playing with Verizon's 3g USB stick (4g is not available in my area), and it works really well, about 70% of the time. My pings average 300-400. I would recommend that. If 4g is available in your area, you will probably NEVER have an issue playing EQ, cause 4g is FAST.
I notice a drastic difference whenever I'm in a city and 4g is available.

edit: I'm limited to 5 gigs of data usage a month, but I don't do much other than play EQ, check a couple forums, email, and watch a few youtube videos. Definitely not a heavy internet user. EQ transfers barely any information, so if all you're doing is playing EQ... you'll never even come close to your data cap. I pay 50/month.
This is shadowpaw by the way so fixing this problem would make me love you lol...
