So according to you, World of Warcraft is a wonderful game? I think we have completely different standards for excellence.
No.

This post made me lol.

Success has absolutely nothing to do with a game being wonderful, as that's subjective.

Bottom line and revenue being generated is concrete, subjectivity and opinion is not. I think WoW launched as a decent, highly polished MMO. Since then, it's catered to lazy players with low IQs (the latter being my opinion) and lowered the bar for humor to clear cut pop-culture references, fart jokes and poop quests.

Fantasy MMO is srs bsns.

He said 'successful' , not 'wonderful'...

While the second is subject to personal opinions, the first is not. Numbers don't lie.
This.

I hate people who bitch about WoW being easy as if 1) the entire game is easy and 2) any other MMO is any harder and 3) they could faceroll WoW heroics or HMs without overgearing and knowing the fights ahead of time and being in vent with a handful of RL friends.
In WoW's defense, I will state (with my fairly limited knowledge of the game post Burning Crusade) that the early raids were a challenge and required some thought/teamwork to complete. You can't look at the game now and tell me that the current WoW development team (both expansion and live teams) haven't trivialized pretty much everything within the game that makes an online/persistent world challenging/compelling/engaging/feel large.

Things like travel time, reliance on other players, attachment to the outcome (think death penalty) and so on have all been watered down or removed altogether because the lazy majority have cried it out of existence.

There's a reason I'm here on an emulator server playing a game that is over thirteen years old.
