They can go ahead and try to make EQ into something its not, and it will ruin what the game still has to offer.
Cheapening and trivializing what EQ was meant to be will put it in the same genre of MMO as every modern MMO, and it will therefore become obsolete among other games that are smoother, prettier, have more advanced systems and much more features.

Agree, which is why I didn't like the XP boost, but it did improve server population, and it's not TOO insane of a boost.
I don't think YT or OOC would cheapen or trivialize the challenge of EQ. It would be custom, yes. I'm not a big fan of it myself, but I'm in the camp where I think it would be okay to try it out, and get rid of it if it sucks.
I think XP is actually a bigger kick in the face to 'classic-ness' than YT or OOC.
