What I find most disappointing is that with the recent political changes, I really hoped that we’d have a chance to reform how we treated each other here. It looks like we’ll just be continuing the same drudgery of annoyance, hate, and belligerence towards each other.
I’m looking at both sides here. Are we really so full of venom that we get off on making someone’s life difficult? Competition is fun, very fun even. But, what amazes me is when I see people saying that they did something for no other reason than to frustrate or harm another person.
In real life, I think the DSM IV calls that being a sociopath.
I’m disappointed in how VP is going. To my knowledge, VD did not approach TMO in a serious diplomatic fashion to discuss VP. To my knowledge, TMO didn’t approach VD either. We could mince words all day on who had the duty to start the discussions, but at the end of it, this is a failing on both our parts. We knew conflict was possible, and I’m disappointed that both sides have not handled it in a more grown up fashion.
I don’t blame either guild one bit for zealously defending its interests. I expect VD to do everything it can to win a spot in VP. I further expect TMO to do what it can to get as many mobs before it has to share anything. This is fine. If nothing else, TMO has shown that it is willing to negotiate with rivals if the situation calls for it. I really hope VD is willing to do the same in good faith.
I really don’t think memblurring dragons is going to get VD where it wants to go in the way they hope it will. And, I don’t believe that trolling and ranting on forums will get TMO where it wants to go.
It is human nature to defy a challenger. Every night I see TMO members resolving to kill these dragons despite rival guilds blurring them. I’m sure VD feels similarly pumped by any oppression they feel TMO has wrought. The end result of all these shenanigans is that we end up at the bottom. It’ll be difficult for people to even talk to each other all because of how much hatred each guild bears to the other. This road only leads down.
I suspect this will fall upon deaf ears, but surely there is a better way to work this out. If we could, more or less, hold to an agreement this would all go away. I’ll go so far as to suggest to VD that if they begin killing VP dragons TMO will come to the table. The key is working here in good faith. Even training each other wouldn’t be so bad. That can dealt with, but to interfere with our raids when you are not yet competing leaves a very bad taste in TMOs mouth. We should have a cordial relationship when it is time for us to have a relationship.
I’m disappointed that both sides have resorted to throwing around insults, pictures, and empty threats. Surely we can have enough respect for each other, as human beings if nothing else, to work out a sustainable and appropriate competitive scene.
We can sit here all day throwing out blame, castigations, and insults, but that won't get us anywhere. How about we sit down an deal with each other. We don't have to like each other, but we do have live in the same world.
An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind.
