Fact: Two people giving different accounts of what occured. Obviously one must be lying.
Fact: Neither has shown any proof that they are not lying.
Fact: Most people don't give a shit.
What this WILL affect for most people is if, in the future, they have some adverse dealings with one of you, they will automatically assume (probably rightly so) that you were the one lying.
Nobody is going to buy that you were screwed by someone else unless either:
you show proof
that person already has a reputation of being an asshat
