Still to me it seems like a fluff degree. What actual technical skills were learned? Planning and Design of what? like where to place solar panels or something. Seems like a weak version of an engineer or architect...

Technical skills include knowledge of GIS software (Map making), AutoCAD, Adobe InDesign/Photoshop, and Google SketchUp.
A lot of the UNM Alumni with this degree have gone on to work for the city. They've typically ended up doing stuff like
this. The big project (Which I hope to get in on once I'm out of school) is the
Mesa Del Sol project (Get down to page 15 or so before the cool stuff shows up). Pretty much creating a 'sub city' the size San Francisco into an undeveloped corner of Albuquerque. Neat stuff~
